Cold calls work exactly the same as cold emails, only this time we are using the phone as our communication channel.
A phone conversation can be more time-efficient and you can get more information from your prospect as you get to ask questions and lead the discussion towards the topics you wish to address.
This is the perfect channel to ask discovery questions like “how are you dealing with x problem?”, “what are your top 3 priorities right now?”, “what would a possible solution look like?” and other questions like that, that can help you learn more about your prospect.
Cold calls are also more personal, which makes prospects less likely to say no, rather than an email which they can simply ignore.
In terms of structure, you can make use of the same elements as you would do with your cold emails: introduction - reason for calling - value proposition - ask questions - handle objections/negotiate - call-to-action.
Tips:
To build familiarity, make sure you always use your prospect`s name in your messages and you also identify yourself right at the beginning of your call.
Keep your messages short and clear if it’s a voicemail or first call, but feel free to follow up with longer phone conversations to learn more about your prospect and negotiate your deal.
Be attentive to choose the right time, frequency, reason for calling, and person who is receiving your call.
Be an active listener, a human, not a robot.
